Expected Changes for Burning Springs Update on 2nd December 2025 (Patch 64)
The next content update for Fallout 76 will be released on December 2nd, 2025. It will include a new map expansion to Ohio on the west side of the map with many new locations and enemies, a new quest, new legendary mods, new events, a new bounty hunter system, and much more. Here is a summary of all known changes that have already been tested on the PTS and discovered through datamining, and which we can expect in the Burning Springs update.
The Burning Springs update has many parallels to season 2 of the Fallout show on Amazon Prime Video, from the desert landscape to the ghoul who personally gives you bounty missions, to the ghoul revolver "Dom Pedro" and various casino-related items for the Atom Shop.

Map Expansion to Burning Springs / Ohio
Following the southern map expansion with Skyline Valley, the next map expansion awaits you westward to Burning Springs in Ohio. According to Bethesda, this update is the largest expansion in Fallout 76.
However, the new area is only accessible via the Silver Bridge in Point Pleasant. The western bank towards Burning Springs is inaccessible, and you cannot walk from Burning Springs across the mountains to the Ohio River. This is likely due to technical limitations, but it would be great if the map in this area could be explored more freely in the future.
This map shows the new region with the accessible areas highlighted in color:
All 25 new Locations in Burning Springs (from North to South):

|
The new Burning Springs map expansion brings a completely new Fallout 76 feel to the game. The desert, vegetation, buildings, and weather, with its sandstorms and fantastic night sky, almost make you feel like you're in Fallout: New Vegas or Fallout 3. The Fallout atmosphere really comes across.
Of course, you can also set up your own camp in all locations except the infamous "no-camp zones" and, for example, build a desert raider camp. Or perhaps a bounty hunter's hideout.
New Questline
If you are new and have just come from the Vault, or you are creating a new character, "The Ghoul" will greet you as soon as you leave the Vault and tell you about Highway Town, where you can help him with his bounty hunts.
Burning Springs Main Quest
The Burning Springs main quest takes you directly from Checkpoint Canyon to the Rust Kingdom, where you'll find the Rust King. This is located in the far south of Burning Springs. From there, the quest leads you to numerous locations throughout the new area, allowing you to explore everything.
The main quest also introduces you to the basics of bounty hunting. Hunting and preparing the new enemies in the area is also part of the quest.
Sidequest: Dirty Laundry
You can find Abraxodyne intel throughout Burning Springs; these are suitcases with an Abraxodyne logo. The quest will start automatically as soon as you pick one up or enter the city of Athens.
There are 150 Abraxodyne Intel Cases. Each character can only collect each intel once. The number of cases collected can be found in your challenges.
After collecting 76 intel, you will receive the Meadow Breeze Sprayer (Plasma Flamer):
1* Anti-Armor
2* Inertial
3* Durability
After collecting 150 intel, you will receive the Prototype ABX03 (Plasma Flamethrower):
1* - 3* same as the Meadow Breeze Sprayer
4* Pyromaniac
The weapons cannot be modded, but they are tradable. If you have sold or dropped them, you can always buy them back from Windy in Highway Town for gold.
The Abraxodyne Caches can be opened after Bodhi gives you the codes, but they only contain scrap and a random plan.
New Public Events
Both events are public events that will normally start every 20 minutes alongside other public events in Appalachia. During the "honeymoon" phase after release, they will likely start every hour on the hour.
Event: Sinkhole Solutions
The “Sinkhole Solutions” event takes place around Tycoon Lake, which has come under attack from vicious insects. A nest has been tracked in the old lake, and your mission is to activate the Stomper and wipe them out. The main challenge here is to detroy the nests and fight radscorpions while a sandstorm rages around the players.
Possible Rewards:
- Plan: Civil War Cannon
- Plan: Potted Prickeye
- Plan: Fort Steuben Sign
- Plan: Heartland Trainyard Sign
- Plan: Radscorpion Agitator
- Plan: Highway Town Guns Sign
- Plan: Tycoon Lake Sign
Event: Gearin` Up
The Gearin' Up event takes place at Jackson's Junkyard in the Ohio Desert. Here you'll meet the Beastmaster. She'll tell you that the Rust King's deathclaws come from this place. There they're raised and trained for combat in the wasteland or in the arena. Your task is to equip a deathclaw with armor and prepare it for a fight while being attacked by raiders. To do this, you'll collect materials for the armor. Once enough scrap metal has been collected, the deathclaw receives its armor and can face off against a larger deathclaw. The goal is to protect it.
Possible Rewards:
- Plan: Egg Carrier Backpack
- Plan: Jackson Junkyard Sign
- Plan: Trash Cube
- Super Stimpike
- Spear
- 1* Medic`s
- 2* Rapid
- 3* Defenders
- Plan: Mounted Armored Deathclaw Head
- Plan: Deathclaw Tamer Outfit
- Plan: Deathclaw Tamer Hat
New Bounty Hunt System
With the Bounty Hunter system, you'll gain your first experience during the main quest. There are two types of bounty hunts:
- Bounty Hunting: Head Hunt
"Hunt down dangerous head honchos for big rewards."- Public event (only one at a time)
- New legendary mods for weapons and armor as rewards
- Started via "Wanted" poster on the bulletin board (in front of the Last Resort / Highway Town)
- Or started by paying the Ghoul 5000 caps
- Bounty Hunting: Grunt Hunt
"Exercise your trigger finger by hunting down outlaws."- Solo events (similar to daily tasks)
- New legendary mods for weapons and armor as rewards
- "Wanted" posters for bounty hunts as rewards
- Started on the Ghoul's table in the Last Resort
Important: The new legendary mods are only available in bounty hunts!
New Weapons
Dom Pedro (The Ghoul Revolver)
You're all familiar with the Fallout series on Amazon Prime. And of course, we're all eagerly awaiting season 2, which will be released on December 17, 2025. The Ghoul in the series has an extraordinary revolver, and we can now obtain this very revolver as a reward in Season 23. Dom Pedro can be modded legendary, and the mechanical mods are also available in Season 23. So you can equip him with any legendary mods you like.
Meadow Breeze Sprayer (Plasma Flamer):
Reward from the Side Quest "Dirty Laundry". See above.
Legendary Mods:
- 1* Anti-Armor
- 2* Inertial
- 3* Durability
Prototype ABX03 (Plasma Flamer):
Reward from the Side Quest "Dirty Laundry". See above.
Legendary Mods:
- 1* - 3* same as the Meadow Breeze Sprayer
- 4* Pyromaniac
Super Stimpike (Spear)
Reward from the Event: Gearin` Up
Legendary Mods:
- 1* Medics
- 2* Rapid
- 3* Defenders
New Enemies: RAD-Hogs and Rust Faction
Burning Springs introduces new enemies. Among them are the RAD-Hogs, which display a notable reaction when exposed to nuclear strikes, adding unpredictability to the wasteland. The RAD-Hogs can even be tamed as pet for your CAMP, if you dare.
In addition, the hostile Rust Faction ,lead by the Rust King, emerges as a new threat in Ohio. Players will also encounter armored Deathclaws as part of this faction, reinforcing the dangers that define the expansion’s new region.
New Outfits
There are 6 new Outfits as Rewards, as well as 2 that are released with Windy via Highway Town.
New Nuke Zone Effects
Currently, there's no endgame event triggered by nuking Burning Springs. While some enemies and flora do visible changes, little else happens. The zone is marked on the map (unlike in Skyline Valley).
However, the nuke zone in Burning Springs is different from those in other areas. Upon entering, you don't receive radiation; instead, you can observe a different effect in your Pip-Boy:
Abraxodyne Weather
- -40% damage resistance in normal armor
- -60% damage resistance in power armor
This opens up possibilities for a new, more challenging endgame event in such a zone.
New Challenges
There are almost 200 new challenges, of which just over 60 are bounty hunt challenges and the rest are new lifetime challenges, some of which offer interesting rewards, similar to what we already experienced with fishing. Here you'll find an overview of all the challenges that await you. The expiration time shown above refers to the daily challenges and is a bug that will hopefully be fixed before December 2nd.
Changed Raid Rewards
The Gleaming Depths RAID remains our only challenge in Fallout 76 where we can obtain the Vulcan Power Armor as well as 4-star mods or 4-star items. This will not change at present. However, some rewards will change with each phase of the raid, which I will list in detail here.
In addition, there is a new weekly challenge. If you have completed all phases of the RAID, you will receive a "Gleaming Depths: Weekly Reward Chest" once a week, containing 4 legendary 4-star items (melee weapon, ranged weapon, armor and power armor).
Changed Rewards are marked bold.

Changes Perk Cards
This time only one perk was changed, and not a fundamental one at that. Only the 4th rank was removed, giving you one more point to spend.
Bulletshield now has 3 ranks.
Milepost Zero was removed
Milepost Zero in southern Skyline Valley, along with the caravans and all the traders there, is now gone. Unfortunately, this also means your upgrade progress is gone. All that remains are your learned plans.
But the good news is: Windy is now in the game and active as a new trader in Highway Town in Burning Springs. Tip: Her shop is up a flight of stairs from the main entrance.
Windy has brought her previously unreleased plans into the game. You can also find the other plans at the other traders in Highway Town. The remaining plans have been distributed among the rewards of spooky scorched and the holiday scorched.
Bethesda wrote in the PTS Patchnotes:
The bandits roaming Skyline Valley looking for caravans to rob have proved themselves to be dastardly threats to the Blue Ridge Caravan Company. Scaring poor brahmin into going off track, leaving deliveries incomplete. For now, Milepost Zero will be closing shop and moving their wares to other vendors across Highway Town. Awaiting a time in the future when things might be a bit safer for their operations. When Burning Springs releases in early December, all players who completed the “A Bump In the Road” Caravan intro quest will receive the title “Caravan Investor”. Players will also be granted 2K Gold Bullion and a new pennant as well.We believe that Bounty Hunting delivers on the same promise of on-demand content, with Legendary enemies, and great rewards in a more succinct and satisfying way. We love the Skyline Valley region and have some fun things in store for it for the future.
New Fish and local legends
There's also news regarding the fish. Five new fish have been added, one of which is a new local legend that you can only catch in Burning Springs.
New Atomic Shop Items
Many new items for the Atomic Shop were already contained in the data on the PTS. Some of these have already been released, but many more will only be available in the Atom Shop in the future. Here you can find all articles with Atomic Shop datamining lists from the PTS.
New Season 23 "Blood x Rust"
Season 23 seamlessly continues the Burning Springs theme: desert, raiders, blood, and rust. Look forward to awesome Raider CAMPs and the Ghoul Revolver, which you'll also receive in the new season. The revolver is called "Dom Pedro" and is available starting on page 7, with the mods following. You can customize the revolver to your liking with legendary mods. It was already a lot of fun on the PTS.
PTS Patchnotes
All upcoming changes were already available on the PTS (Public Test Server) and prepared for live operation. Initially, there was a bug that caused damage numbers to be far too high, but this has been fixed. The legendary mods were also finalized during the PTS and are now particularly interesting for Ghoul players. You can find all the details chronologically in the PTS patchnotes.
