The Slasher Seasonal Event with Questline
Patch 70 introduces the new seasonal event “The Slasher”, centered around the legendary Pint-Sized Slasher. Unlike previous limited-time mini seasons, the story unfolds over several weeks and brings the Pint-Sized Phantoms into various existing activities across Appalachia.
It begins with a new four-part questline that sends you on the trail of the Pint-Sized Slasher's followers. As the season progresses, you will encounter disturbed graves, seasonal enemies and rewards in Daily Ops, Infestations, Mischief Night, Spooky Scorched and later Head Hunts. Pint-Sized Phantoms can also drop special loot bags containing new rewards.
You can find all quests, dates, drop chances and new rewards in our complete guide:
Next-Gen Update for Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5
Patch 70 brings a major Next-Gen Update to Fallout 76 on consoles. For the first time, the game will run natively on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PS5 Pro, allowing Fallout 76 to make more efficient use of current-generation hardware.
The update targets 60 FPS across all current-gen consoles. Xbox Series X and PS5 Pro also support 4K resolution, while PS5 supports up to 1440p. VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) is supported on compatible displays for Xbox Series X|S, PS5 and PS5 Pro. In addition to improving performance and stability, the native versions provide a better technical foundation for future updates.
You can find more details about resolutions, performance and the Next-Gen Update here:
Legacy Saisons
With this patch, Bethesda is bringing previous seasons back into the game. The plan is to run one older season (similar to a "mini-season") alongside the current season. You can select which season you want to view or for which season you want to claim rewards via the season menu.
There will be no changes to the daily and weekly challenges. You can exchange the tickets earned from these challenges for rewards in either the current season or a previous one.
The original game board and its associated music will also be available again for these old seasons.
For veteran players, any rewards already claimed will appear as unlocked. However, there are also new rewards for long-time players, which can already be seen via datamining.
The first season to run alongside Season 26 and "The Slasher" update is "Season 4: Armor Ace Cold Steel". Season 4 originally launched in Fallout 76 in April 2021.
Fishing: New Seasonal Legend
Fall also brings a new season to fishing in Appalachia. The new seasonal fish for fall is the Fester Koi, which can be caught throughout the fall months and joins the previous seasonal fish.
A new Local Legend, The Sludge Eye, is also waiting to be reeled in, but only at The Sludge Works. Alongside these new catches, the fall update introduces new fishing challenges and recipes that make use of the fish you catch.
You can find all details about the seasonal fish, the new Local Legend, recipes and challenges here:
Daily Ops: New Rewards
Patch 70 expands the Daily Ops reward pool with a total of 15 new rare rewards, which can be obtained through the daily completion rewards as usual.
During the seasonal Slasher event, an additional pool of seasonal rare rewards will also be available. During this period, Pint-Sized Phantoms can also appear as an enemy faction in Daily Ops. This makes Daily Ops worth revisiting even for players who have already collected all of the previous rewards.
You can find an overview of all new and existing rewards as well as their drop chances here:
96 Reworked & New Unique Weapons
Patch 70 reworks all 96 unique weapons in Fallout 76. The weapons receive new or adjusted unique effects, while their drop sources have also been redistributed. This could make many previously less interesting unique weapons worth another look.
Another major change affects their legendary effects: You will now be able to modify the legendary mods on unique weapons. The weapon's unique effect remains intact, while the legendary stars can be adjusted to better fit your own build. However, modifying unique weapons is significantly more expensive than modifying regular legendary weapons, you will need a lot of legendary scrip and also vault steel for this. You can find a detailed list in the article.
You can find a complete overview of all 96 weapons, including their new effects and drop sources, here:
More Scrip for legendary items
When selling items at a Legendary Exchange Machine, the item type will no longer matter: weapons, armor and Power Armor will all provide the same amount of Scrip based solely on their number of stars.
The biggest increase applies to 4-star legendary items, which will now be worth 150 Legendary Scrip.
Selling at a Legendary Exchange Machine
| Stars | Weapons Before | Armor Before | Power Armor Before | New: All Items |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| ★ | 5 | 3 | 10 | 15 |
| ★★ | 15 | 9 | 20 | 25 |
| ★★★ | 40 | 24 | 45 | 50 |
| ★★★★ | 50 | 30 | 55 | 150 |
Scrapping Legendary Items
| Stars | Before | New |
|---|---|---|
| ★ | 1 | 3 |
| ★★ | 2 | 5 |
| ★★★ | 4 | 10 |
| ★★★★ | 6 | 30 |
Buying from the Purveyor
Prices at the Purveyor are also being standardized. Instead of different prices for weapons, armor and Power Armor, random legendary items will now cost the same amount depending on their number of stars:
| Stars | Weapons Before | Armor Before | Power Armor Before | New: All Items |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| ★ | 25 | 15 | 50 | 25 |
| ★★ | 50 | 30 | 75 | 35 |
| ★★★ | 100 | 60 | 120 | 60 |
This makes Power Armor considerably cheaper at the Purveyor, while exchanging and scrapping legendary items becomes more rewarding overall. The biggest difference applies to 4-star items, with their exchange value increasing from a previous maximum of 55 to 150 Legendary Scrip and their scrapping value increasing from 6 to 30 Scrip.
Legendary Crafting: New Costs
Legendary Crafting: New Costs & Modifiable Unique Weapons
Legendary Crafting at workbenches is also being adjusted with Patch 70. The Legendary Scrip cost for changing a Legendary Mod will no longer increase with each modification. Instead, there will be a fixed cost based on the star tier.
| Legendary Mod | New Cost |
|---|---|
| ★ | 50 Legendary Scrip |
| ★★ | 50 Legendary Scrip |
| ★★★ | 50 Legendary Scrip |
| ★★★★ | 100 Legendary Scrip |
A particularly significant change affects the previously mentioned unique weapons. Unique items will now be explicitly labeled as “Unique” when inspected, and their Legendary Mods can be changed for the first time. A 4-star Legendary Mod can also be added.
Modifying unique items comes at a much higher price, however: changing their Legendary Mods costs 10 times the regular amount of Legendary Scrip.
| Legendary Mod on Unique Items | Cost |
|---|---|
| ★ | 500 Legendary Scrip |
| ★★ | 500 Legendary Scrip |
| ★★★ | 500 Legendary Scrip |
| ★★★★ | 1,000 Legendary Scrip |
Crafting unique items at a workbench will also become more expensive and additionally requires Vault Steel:
| Unique Item | Legendary Modules | Vault Steel |
|---|---|---|
| ★★★ | 30 | 40 |
| ★★★★ | 65 | 80-85 |
This means the unique weapons reworked with Patch 70 can be customized much more extensively to fit your build, although doing so is considerably more expensive than modifying regular legendary gear.
There is also a small improvement when attaching mods: the confirmation window will now show which existing mod is being replaced and will warn you if your character has not yet learned the mod being replaced.
New Setting: Other Players' Explosions
Starting with this patch, you can easily adjust the scale of other players' explosions in your settings. This applies to any type of explosion caused by a player using their weapons.
If you’ve encountered players who make a habit of dropping orbital strikes during events, leaving you unable to see anything, or players who think it’s hilarious to rain mini-nukes down on an event, there is now a simple solution. Just turn the "Other Player Explosion Scale" all the way down, and you’ll have a clear view.
You can find this in the settings after the patch:
Display -> Other Player Explosion Scale
New Season 26: "Beware the Blood Moon"
Alongside Patch 70, Season 26 “Beware the Blood Moon” begins, bringing a large selection of dark and bloody rewards to Appalachia just in time for fall. These include new C.A.M.P. items and building kits, bloodstained workbenches, outfits, player titles and icons, as well as Blood Moon paints for various Power Armors and “Bloody Mess” paints for several melee weapons.
Some of the more interesting functional rewards include the Altar of Bones Collector and the Creepy Cultist Well Collector. The season also includes six new mods for the Cryolator, including new barrel, magazine and muzzle mods.

New Atomic Shop Items
Various Patch 70 PTS updates have revealed numerous upcoming Atomic Shop items. These include new C.A.M.P. items and building kits, C.A.M.P. pets, outfits, weapon and Power Armor paints, decorations and functional items.
Some of the more notable finds include new Brotherhood of Steel items, the Penitentiary C.A.M.P. Kit and Porch Kit, new dogs as C.A.M.P. pets, various Poseidon Energy items and the BoS Vertibird Training Simulator, which provides +2 Perception for 30 minutes. Other items such as the Assaultron Assembly Platform and Vat of FEV also have player buffs attached to them, although their exact effects are not yet known in the current data. There are also a bunch of Vault Items like the Gelatine Cake, Overseer Desk and Shelter, that will be released with Patch 70 and have been announced for an atomic shop release on 15th sept already.

PTS Changelogs
In addition to the major new content, Patch 70 introduces numerous balance, gameplay and quality-of-life changes that were tested and adjusted throughout several PTS phases. These include extensive changes to unique weapons and their drop sources, adjustments to Legendary Crafting, weapons and armor mods, as well as improvements to Infestations and various existing activities.
An earlier PTS phase also tested the new World Pets / pet companions. However, these are not part of the Fall Update and are planned for a later update this winter.
For the first time, a PTS was made available to console players, allowing them to test the new next-gen version of Fallout 76. The new "The Slasher" content could also be tested on consoles there.
You can find all changes and adjustments from the different PTS versions in our detailed PTS patch notes:
