Tip for all Scrap Junk Challenges
For all challenges where you need to scrap junk to obtain a material, there's a simple method. This method works for most scrap junk challenges, but not all of them follow the same pattern.
Here's how to complete the challenge quickly:
You'll need: a tinker workbench
This can be in your own camp, another camp, a public place, or even a Fallout 1st survival tent equipped with a crafting workbench.
- Make sure you have the amount of scrap you need for a bulk batch. (10-30 of the respective material and 2 plastic)
- Select bulk.
- Produce one or more bulk required for the challenge. The quantity of material is crucial.
- Scrap these bulks at the workbench or, for example, at the Fallout 1st scrap box.
- Done! Challenge complete!
Basically, we produce bulk and then scrap them. Scrapping bulk counts like scrapping junk. This costs 2 plastic per bulk, but saves a lot of time if you just want to complete the challenge quickly without having to search for the material first.
This recycling method works for the following challenges:
- Scrap junk to produce Acid
- Scrap junk to produce Adhesive
- Scrap junk to produce Aluminum
- Scrap junk to produce Bone
- Scrap junk to produce Ceramic
- Scrap junk to produce Cloth
- Scrap junk to produce Concrete
- Scrap junk to produce Copper
- Scrap junk to produce Cork
- Scrap junk to produce Fertilizer
- Scrap junk to produce Gears
- Scrap junk to produce Glass
- Scrap junk to produce Lead
- Scrap junk to produce Leather
- Scrap junk to produce Oil
- Scrap junk to produce Plastic
- Scrap junk to produce Rubber
- Scrap junk to produce Springs
- Scrap junk to produce Steel
- Scrap junk to produce Wood
However, it does not work for these challenges, as bulk production of these materials is not possible:
- Scrap junk to produce Antiseptic
- Scrap junk to produce Asbestos
- Scrap junk to produce Ballistic Fiber
- Scrap junk to produce Black Titanium
- Scrap junk to produce Circuitry
- Scrap junk to produce Crystal
- Scrap junk to produce Fiberglass
- Scrap junk to produce Fiber Optics
- Scrap junk to produce Gold
- Scrap junk to produce Screws
- Scrap junk to produce Silver
You can buy some of these materials in bulk, for example at the Whitespring Mall, or, as with gold and silver, buy the scrap items there and use them directly.
Coal is a special case: there are no bulk of coal, and it ends up in the Fallout 1st scrapbox without being processed further. You can simply take coal from the scrapbox; that's enough for the challenge, if you have Fallout 1st.
