[PTS] Raid "Gleaming Depths": Guide & Rewards

[PTS] Raid `Gleaming Depths`: Guide & Rewards

PTS Version: 11th October 2024

A new challenge awaits us in the next content update in December 2024: raids. The new raid "Gleaming Depths" is currently being tested on the PTS and offers a completely new experience in Fallout 76. The difficulty of the raid is significantly higher than previous events, daily operations or expeditions. The idea is to offer a challenge for experienced players and require teamwork for successful completion. The focus of the rewards is also on a new level, as it is possible to get multiple 4-star mods and 4-star weapons in the raid. There is also a new power armor called "Vulcan" with a new set bonus that focuses on AP regeneration.

5 stages with individual rewards

The "Gleaming Depths" raid is divided into 5 stages. After each stage, progress is saved and each raid player can continue playing a new raid independently as a team leader. Rewards are also given out immediately after each stage, not at the end. This way it's possible to have individual rewards to be earned for each stage.

No Respawn

Unlike all other areas of Fallout 76, you cannot be revived in a raid and you do not respawn. If you die in a stage of the raid, you will spend the rest of the stage watching the remaining surviving players as a spectator. You will only respawn and be able to participate again once the stage has been successfully completed by the rest of the team.

Where to find the Raid?

The raid is not an event and does not require a nuke. You also cannot join via the world activities like in the daily ops and you do not fly there with the Vertibird like in the expeditions.

The raid is an instance that is entered directly on site. In this case, this location is in Ash Heap. The former fissure site location next to Strykers Row is now "Gleaming Depths" and is the entrance to the raid. For future raids, it is possible that other fissure site locations will serve as entrances. This raid is just the beginning.

New Raid Teams

In line with the introduction of raids, there is now also a new team type: Raids Team

The bonus for joining (when the blue bar is full after 5 minutes) is 25% - 100% higher weapon durability.

Starting Raid: "Gleaming Depths"

You can now start the raid as a team leader directly at the location in Ash Heap by entering the instance. Once you have joined there, the other team members can follow you.

The first thing you'll find there is a cave that serves as an anteroom to the first stage. This room, like every room between the stages, contains all the stash boxes, workbenches, power armor stations, and punch card machines for customizing your loadouts. This way you can prepare for the next stage, modify your equipment, stock up on ammo or change your perks.

Raid Stage 1: Guardian Bot

In the first stage of the raid, you enter a round room. In the middle there is a platform with a sentry bot surrounded by a shield. Outside there are walkways, stairs and pillars on which the players can move and take cover behind the pillars. There are 3 doors on the walls. These doors open as a shelter when it overheats. There is also a control console with a start button below.

After the button has been pressed, the guard bot rises from the platform and the fight begins. The guard bot turns in all directions and the team's goal is to destroy the shield. As soon as the shield is destroyed, a heating phase begins. During this, it is possible to damage the guardian bot. At the same time, the side doors of the shelters open. When the heating has reached its maximum temperature, the doors close. If you are not standing in a shelter, you die. After this phase, the guard bot regains its full shield, which must be destroyed again. Once the guardian bot is completely destroyed, this stage is successfully completed and you can go deeper into the raid.

Raid Stage 2: Tunnel Boring Machine

Next we go with the tunnel boring drill. The drill is ready to clear the way further into the depths. However, it has no fuel. There is a button on the drill to start the stage.

As soon as the button is pressed, you will see a progress bar for the fuel and a status bar for the drill. The team's task is now to get fuel in the form of canisters from the mine's tunnels in order to completely fill the drill. During this time, the drill is attacked by miners and mole rats.

Only one fuel canister can be carried to the drill at a time. So it is necessary to keep running into the mine's corridors and get more canisters.

But be careful: If you come across the Ultragenetic Moleminer Stalker, RUN!
This miner is not a normal miner and can knock you out of the game with one hit.

When the drill is completely filled with fuel, the stage is completed and you receive your reward. The progress is also saved here and the drill drills one more gear down.

Raid Stage 3: Enklaven Epsilon Squad

The next section is the Enclave Epsilon Squad room. There you will find 3 Enclave guards in vulcan power armor, each protected by a shield. Each guard has a shield with its own generator. The generators are behind the letters A, B and C on the left, at the end of the room and on the right in side rooms.

The respective guardian is only vulnerable if the respective shield generators are destroyed. And as soon as a shield generator is destroyed, repair-eyebots immediately fly over and repair the generator. The team must therefore split up and destroy the generators while the other team members attack the guardian.

Once all 3 Enclave Epsilon Squad Guardians are defeated, the stage is completed and the reward is awarded. Also the progress is saved again.

Raid Stage 4: Ultragenetic Horde

In stage 4 you will meet the Ultragenetic Horde in the Enclave Research Laboratory. The Horde consists of a lot of creatures such as gulpers, molerats, deathclaws, cave crickets etc. and an Ultragenetic Moleminer Stalker. The creatures can only be killed by destroying the Ultracite crystals. To do this you have to destroy an Ultracite crystal, which then releases an energy wave that damages the creatures in the vicinity. The creatures can only be harmed by this energy wave, not by normal hits.

At the bottom of the screen you can see the Ultragenetic Horde's life bar. All creatures are added together here. The goal is to kill the entire horde.

And here too: beware of the Ultragenetic Moleminer Stalker.

The goal is to lure all creatures, including the Ultragenetic Moleminer Stalker, directly to the crystals and then destroy those. You have to repeat this until the entire horde is defeated. When they die, the horde leaves a cloud of poison behind. Poison resistance is very helpful here. Either through the legendary perk "Funky Duds" or, for example, through union power armor.

When the ultragenetic horde is defeated, you receive the next reward and your progress is saved again.

Raid Stage 5: Ultracite Terror

In the finale of the raid, the team now encounters the "Ultracite Terror", which is a huge snake with numerous different attacks. The snake moves around a small island in a lake of green liquid Ultracite. The goal is, of course, to defeat the snake.

The Ultracite Terror's attacks range from a scream that can blow you into the liquid, deadly Ultracite to acid attacks. Always pay attention to where you stand so that you don't lose life in a yellow poison puddle and aren't swept off the small island by the snake.

In some sections, the snake's tail appears, which you also have to defeat in order to win the fight. Currently, the entire team seems to be killed if the fight takes too long. So try to arm yourself well and do a lot of damage quickly so that you can defeat the Ultracite Terror.

After this fight, the raid is over and you spawn with your reward again in front of the "Radiant Depths" location, where you can find all the stash boxes and workbenches on the platform again.

Conclusion

The introduction of raids is a good extension of the existing possibilities in Fallout 76 and a really good new challenge for experienced players. Here, everyone can rethink their builds and be challenged in a new way.

Currently, most players on the PTS play the raid as a heavy build with full life. But as soon as everyone has gotten to know the raid and its individual sections better, many will certainly start using their commando builds again. But it is actually difficult as a melee build, as the last fight in particular hardly allows melee. Of course, there are already players here who manage to fly and defeat the snake with the auto axe using a jetpack and a lot of buffs. But that is certainly not for everyone.

What do you think of this new raid? Feel free to write in the comments.
