All about Actionpoints (AP) Acceleration / Regeneration (incl Calculation Formula)

Actionpoints (AP) Acceleration refers to the time in which your actionpoints are completely replenished and regenerated. This information is always given in seconds that are needed to fill the AP from 0% to 100%. By default this value is around 16 seconds. Perks, armor, mutations and buffs can increase this regeneration time to under 1 second. This regeneration works permanently (or as long as the buffs) as long as the APs are not used. The regeneration only starts when you e.g. no longer shoot in VATS. Or stopped using the jetpack.

Dataminer "Thaang" in the "Fallout 76 Datamining Discord" has found numbers with which you can calculate the regeneration yourself.

The generation of action points e.g. Canned coffee works differently. see: All about Canned Coffee (Actionpoints Bonus). And the Max AP must also be considered separately from the acceleration. The maximum action points have no influence on acceleration.

ACTIONPOINTSRATE

This is the basic AP regeneration. Measured in percent of AP per second. The buffs stack additively with a few exceptions. Default: 6 (no limit)

Multiplies your total ActionPoints rate with the perks and temporary bonuses. These buffs stack additively with each other. Default: 100 (no limit)

EXAMPLES

Without anything
[6] * [100/100] = 6% per second
Full AP Regeneration: 16.6 seconds

With 3 AP armor pieces and nerd rage
[6 + (3 * 5)] * [(100 + 15)/100] = 24.15% per second
Full AP Regeneration: 4.14 seconds

With 3 AP armor pieces, Hard Lemonade, Action Boy, Nerd Rage, Fully Hydrated and Well Attuned
[6 + (3 * 5) + 10] * [(100+15+25+35)/100] = 54.25% per second
Full AP Regeneration: 1.84 seconds

CONCLUSION

Our recommendation is to use 3 pieces of armor with AP acceleration. Based on this list, you can now temporarily improve this regeneration if necessary.
